China is getting on the bike wagon with a soar­ing new rid­ing path in Xi­a­men, Fu­jian prov­ince. The 7.6-kilo­me­ter-long aerial bike path opened ear­lier this year, al­low­ing for rapid, clean trans­porta­tion through the city. It con­nects six pub­lic trans­porta­tion cen­ters. More than 2,000 bi­cy­cles per hour can travel on the new path. Dur­ing the night, 30,000 lights il­lu­mi­nate the way. The 360-de­gree selfie tech­nol­ogy is one of the top 10 break­through tech­nolo­gies this year rec­og­nized by MIT Tech­nol­ogy Re­view. The spher­i­cal im­ages made by in­ex­pen­sive cam­eras with this tech­nol­ogy are open­ing a new era in photography and changing the way peo­ple share sto­ries. The tech­nol­ogy has been ap­plied in the me­dia in­dus­try to re­port im­por­tant events, and it will have a deep in­flu­ence in other in­dus­tries such as tourism, real es­tate, film pro­duc­tion and even wed­ding cel­e­bra­tions in China.
