Former leg­is­la­tor un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion

Wei Minzhou, a former se­nior leg­is­la­tor in Shaanxi prov­ince, is be­ing in­ves­ti­gated on sus­pi­cion of ac­cept­ing bribes, the Supreme Peo­ple’s Procu­ra­torate said on Tues­day. Wei had been deputy Party chief of the Stand­ing Com­mit­tee of the Shaanxi Pro­vin­cial Peo­ple’s Congress since Jan­uary. He has been placed un­der “co­er­cive mea­sures”, which may in­clude sum­mons, bail, res­i­den­tial sur­veil­lance, de­ten­tion or ar­rest.
