Drug dealer dupes duo us­ing sugar

Po­lice in Shen­zhen de­tained two men on June 1 who had brought 26 bags of sugar crys­tals in the be­lief they con­tained metham­phetamine. The men were caught af­ter an anony­mous tipoff about a drug deal. The man who sold the bags was de­tained shortly af­ter in a rented room that con­tained about 167 kilo­grams of ephedrine, a raw ma­te­rial for the man­u­fac­ture of crys­tal meth. He said he had been com­mis­sioned to make the drugs in re­turn for HK$15 mil­lion ($1.9 mil­lion), but af­ter a month­long spend­ing spree, he had still not made the drugs, so in­stead he gave the clients sugar.
