Netflix acquires comics publisher

China Daily (Hong Kong) - - BUSINESS -

Internet entertainment platform Netflix announced on Monday that it has acquired Millarworld, the comic book publisher. The acquisition was the first made by Netflix. They said in a statement the two would work on bringing Millarworld’s portfolio of character franchises to life through films, series and children’s shows available internationally and exclusively to Netflix members. “We look forward to creating new Netflix originals from several existing franchises as well as new super-hero, anti-hero, fantasy, sci-fi and horror stories Mark (Millar) and his team will continue to create and publish,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. Mark Millar, who runs Millarworld with his wife Lucy Millar, said he was excited by the plans. the names and logos of all its companies this month. The move is part of a strategy to distance itself from the Petrobras corruption scandal, which revealed Odebrecht paid millions of dollars in bribes across the Americas. According to the Folha de Sao Paulo daily on Monday, while the name of the holding group will not change, the name Odebrecht will be removed from all businesses such as Odebrecht Oil and Gas and Odebrecht Real Estate Developments. The distinctive red color of the Odebrecht brand and its traditional font will also be eliminated. The first brand to undergo the change will be Braskem, the biggest petrochemical company in Latin America. While Braskem will keep its name, it will lose the associated name of Odebrecht. This will also be the case of the Foz and Enseada brands.
