Af­ter 30 years in his craft, wood­carver Hu Wen­jie’s Bud­dhist fig­ures re­flect his ded­i­ca­tion and skill as he lov­ingly toils in his work­shop in Xinx­i­ang, He­nan prov­ince. Wood­carv­ing, a tra­di­tional craft span­ning more than 3,000 years, was named on the Na­tional In­tan­gi­ble Cul­tural Her­itage List, which was ap­proved by the State Coun­cil in 2008.
