‘Co­op­er­a­tion still needed’ with Rus­sia

Wash­ing­ton, while main­tain­ing “a poor re­la­tion­ship” with Moscow, still needs to work with Moscow in ar­eas of mu­tual in­ter­est, said US Sec­re­tary of State Rex Tiller­son on Thurs­day. Ear­lier this month, the United States again moved to con­front Rus­sia over the east­ern Ukraine is­sue, say­ing it was pre­pared to sell ad­vanced weapons to Ukraine and ask­ing Rus­sia to ease vi­o­lence in east­ern Ukraine. In re­sponse, the Rus­sian For­eign Min­istry said the arms sale would lead to “new blood­shed”.
