Sri Lankan Air­lines’ rev­enue sees record rise

Sri Lanka’s na­tional air­line car­rier, Sri­Lankan Air­lines on Mon­day said it had achieved a record an­nual pas­sen­ger rev­enue of 126.9 bil­lion ru­pees ($830.7 mil­lion) for the 2017-18 fi­nan­cial year, the high­est ever in the com­pany’s 38-year his­tory. In a state­ment, the air­line said the rev­enue came as a re­sult of the re­cent ex­pan­sion of it to sev­eral new des­ti­na­tions such as Gan Is­lands, Hyderabad and Mel­bourne, and ad­di­tional flights to pop­u­lar cities in its net­work. China shortly, Ir­ish Agri­cul­ture Min­is­ter Michael Creeds aid on Mon­day. He said that the min­istry will com­plete the fi­nal tech­ni­cal­i­ties to al­low the ex­ports to com­mence in the com­ing weeks. With the com­mence­ment of Ir­ish beef ex­ports to China, Ire­land will be­come one of the first Euro­pean Union coun­tries to gain the ac­cess to the Chi­nese beef mar­ket which was closed to the EU 17 years ago fol­low­ing an out­break of mad cow dis­ease in Europe.
