Air­port opens in red tourism city

The Nan­ni­wan Air­port went into op­er­a­tion on Thurs­day in Yan’an, a tourist city in Shaanxi prov­ince. The first flight ar­rived at the air­port about 8:30 am on Thurs­day. The old Er­shilipu Air­port is out of civil use. The new air­port is lo­cated in the south­west­ern sub­urb, 13 km from the city cen­ter. It has seven gate po­si­tions and a 3,000me­ter run­way. Yan’an, a fa­mous rev­o­lu­tion­ary base that hosted the Com­mu­nist Party of China head­quar­ters from 1935 to 1948, is a hot tourist des­ti­na­tion nowa­days.
