For the past 34 years, a pri­mary school in Shenyang, Liaon­ing prov­ince, has main­tained a pol­icy of not giv­ing home­work to its stu­dents. With no home­work to keep the stu­dents busy af­ter school, they can join op­tional courses or par­tic­i­pate in some of the school’s 60 dif­fer­ent clubs, as well as 20 com­pul­sory courses cov­er­ing top­ics in­clud­ing smart ro­bots, mu­sic, and the arts. The Fifth Pri­mary School of the Shenyang Rail­way was es­tab­lished in 1958 and in­tro­duced its no-home­work pol­icy in 1984.
