Swiss Con­fed­er­a­tion of­fi­cial to par­tic­i­pate in dia­logue

At the in­vi­ta­tion of State Coun­cilor and For­eign Min­is­ter Wang Yi, Ig­nazio Cas­sis, head of the Fed­eral Depart­ment of For­eign Af­fairs of the Swiss Con­fed­er­a­tion and a mem­ber of the Fed­eral Coun­cil, will visit China from Mon­day to Wed­nes­day to par­tic­i­pate in the first round of the Chi­naSwitzer­land For­eign Min­is­ters’ Strate­gic Dia­logue, ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs. Zim­babwe’s Pres­i­dent Em­mer­son Mnan­gagwa will pay a state visit to China from Mon­day to Fri­day at the in­vi­ta­tion of Pres­i­dent Xi Jinping, ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs. Mnan­gagwa be­came Zim­babwe’s sec­ond pres­i­dent in Novem­ber, re­plac­ing Robert Mu­gabe, who re­signed af­ter 37 years as head of the coun­try. China has es­tab­lished strong eco­nomic co­op­er­a­tion with Zim­babwe and is fund­ing in­vest­ment projects across the coun­try. The En­ergy Stor­age In­ter­na­tional Con­fer­ence and Expo will be held at the China Na­tional Con­ven­tion Cen­ter in Bei­jing from Mon­day to Wed­nes­day. China is ex­pected to raise its power-stor­age ca­pac­ity ten­fold to 14.5 gi­gawatts by 2020, ac­cord­ing to the China En­ergy Stor­age Al­liance, an in­dus­try body. Stor­age tech­nolo­gies in­clude pumped-stor­age hy­dropower and lithium ion bat­ter­ies. The gov­ern­ment said in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) that it would seek break­throughs in en­ergy stor­age.
