Bei­jing makes a pitch at Citi Field


The 10th An Evening of Chi­nese Cul­ture, fea­tur­ing Bei­jing, was held at Citi Field in New York on Sept 3, dur­ing the base­ball game be­tween the New York Mets and the Wash­ing­ton Na­tion­als. The event, Charm­ing Bei­jing: In­cred­i­ble Tourism Des­ti­na­tion, was co-hosted by the Sin o-Amer­i­can Friend­ship As­so­ci­a­tion and the Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mis­sion of Tourism Devel­op­ment. Wang Yue, BMCTD vice-di­rec­tor, threw out the cer­e­mo­nial first pitch. A video pro­mo­tion in­tro­duc­ing China’s cap­i­tal was played on the gi­ant screens in the sta­dium. “Tourism is so im­por­tant for our re­la­tion­ship. ... I hope through this event, the China-US Tourism Year could be fur­ther pro­moted,” said Zhang Qiyue (pic­tured third from left on Citi Field screen), Chi­nese con­sul gen­eral in New York, ap­pear­ing with Spirit Award re­cip­i­ents.
