Capital to test warning sirens

Authorities in the capital will test the city’s civil defense sirens on Saturday to mark National Defense Education Day. The test, the fourth time the sirens will have been tested in recent years, is aimed at strengthening air defense awareness and stepping up national defense education among residents, according to a news release posted by the municipal government. The test is also part of routine maintenance to ensure the sirens will function normally in an emergency. The test will last about 15 minutes.
