Compensation asked for lorry death

Family members of a lorry driver, surnamed Xu, who was killed in an accident involving his own vehicle, have taken an insurance company to court in Xiamen city, asking for 1.18 million yuan ($176,860) in compensation. Xu, 29, was the father of twins. While Xu was transporting earth from a construction site in April last year, he got out of his lorry to see why his vehicle was unable to climb a slope. But when the lorry slid backward, Xu was knocked down and killed. The insurance company said Xu was responsible for his death because he was knocked down and killed by his own vehicle.
