Pretend monk detained over fraud
A farmer in Jinan pretended to be an eminent monk to cheat three sisters out of more than 40,000 yuan ($6,034). Surnamed Wang, the farmer from Henan province was suffering financial difficulties. In July, 2014, hemet a woman, surnamed Liu, and told her that she would face sworn revenge which he could help her avoid as he was an eminent monk. In July and August of that year, Wang took more than 40,000 yuan from Liu and her two sisters, who finally realized they were being cheated and reported Wang to police. Wang was detained recently and an investigation into the case is ongoing.
