Di­a­logue ‘ur­gent’ on DPRK is­sue

For­eign Min­is­ter Wang Yi told his Ja­panese coun­ter­part that China op­poses “un­help­ful” uni­lat­eral sanc­tions on the Demo­cratic Peo­ple’s Repub­lic of Korea, ac­cord­ing to a statement re­leased by the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs. China op­poses the Sept 9 nu­clear test by the DPRK and will work with other per­ma­nent mem­bers of the United Na­tions Se­cu­rity Coun­cil to for­mu­late a nec­es­sary re­sponse, Wang told Fu­mio Kishida in a phone call on Wed­nes­day. Cur­rent ten­sions on the Korean Penin­sula have made a restart of di­a­logue on the is­sue ur­gent and nec­es­sary, Wang said.
