Driver ‘30 percent responsible’
A taxi driver in Shuyang county was judged to be “30 percent responsible” for a traffic accident. The taxi driver, surnamed Cheng, was driving on Oct 4 last year when he sawan electric tricycle stop in the road and sounded his horn. The driver of the tricycle, which was carrying five passengers, was startled by the sound. The vehicle tipped over, resulting in the death of one of the passengers. The victim’s family brought a lawsuit against Cheng, and a court recently determined that he was “30 percent responsible” for the accident. Cheng was ordered him to pay the family 178,571 yuan ($26,770).
