Pensioner swindled in medicine scam

China Daily (USA) - - CHINA -

A 76-year-old man in Jinan spent all of his savings and pension funds, totaling 180,000 yuan ($27,000), on buying so-called miracle medicine to cure his wife, who suffers from diabetes, but later found he had been swindled. The man, surnamed Na, received a call in mid-May from someone selling medicine for the treatment of diabetes, who knew Na, his wife’s names as well as her medical condition. Na was persuaded to buy large amounts of the “medicine”, but became unable to contact the sellers after all his savings were gone, which is when he reported the case to the police.
