Man con­fesses to smug­gling gold

A man who at­tempted to hide three pieces of gold in his shoe and smug­gle them in­toHongKong was ar­rested by po­lice at the bor­der of Shen­zhen andHongKong last week. The gold weighs 3 kg and has a value of about 900,000 yuan ($134,930). The sus­pect con­fessed to the crime, and the case has been trans­ferred to the depart­ment of ju­ris­dic­tion for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion. A group of older women danc­ing in a public area in Fuzhou were drenched in wa­ter by res­i­dents from a nearby build­ing who com­plained about noise pol­lu­tion on Wed­nes­day. A wit­ness, sur­named Liu, said dozens of older fe­males were danc­ing to loud mu­sic when he walked to a nearby bank. He heard screams and sawthe woman be­ing soaked by wa­ter that was be­ing poured from a build­ing win­dow. The women dis­persed, but then re­tal­i­ated by throw­ing rocks at the win­dow. The in­ci­dent lasted for about 20 min­utes.
