In­dia to in­vest $2b in Sri Lanka

In­dia is keen on bring­ing in in­vest­ment to Sri Lanka, amount­ing to at least $2 bil­lion over the next three to four years, a vis­it­ing In­dian min­is­ter said on Tues­day. In­dia’s Com­merce Min­is­ter Nir­mala Sithara­man is in Sri Lanka with an In­dian busi­ness del­e­ga­tion to ex­pand trade ties be­tween the two na­tions. The min­is­ter told re­porters af­ter talks with Sri Lankan Prime Min­is­ter Ranil Wick­remesinghe that In­dia has not set a time frame for ne­go­ti­at­ing an Eco­nomic and Tech­ni­cal Co­op­er­a­tion Agree­ment with Sri Lanka, al­though the Sri Lankan gov­ern­ment wanted it by year end.
