Ac­ci­dents, deaths lower this year

The coun­try saw39,852 work safety ac­ci­dents in the first three quar­ters of this year that re­sulted in 23,650 peo­ple who ei­ther died or were miss­ing, ac­cord­ing to the State Ad­min­is­tra­tion ofWork Safety. The num­ber of ac­ci­dents dropped by 6.9 per­cent year-on-year, while the num­ber of dead or miss­ing de­creased by 3.5 per­cent, the watch­dog said at a work con­fer­ence on Tues­day. The au­thor­ity said en­sur­ing the safety of coal mines and road trans­porta­tion will be key tar­gets for the fourth quar­ter.
