X-rays banned at se­cu­rity checks

TheMin­istry of En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion has banned the wide­spread use of X-rays for se­cu­rity checks in pub­lic places in re­sponse to re­cent con­tro­ver­sies at some train sta­tions and air­ports in Sichuan prov­ince. Some train sta­tions, such as those in Chengdu andMianyang, have ex­posed the pub­lic to X-rays dur­ing se­cu­rity checks with­out no­ti­fy­ing pas­sen­gers in ad­vance, caus­ing health con­cerns.
