Daugh­ter re­fuses to meet father

An ill father who un­der­took a rail jour­ney of more than 50 hours to visit his daugh­ter had to stay at a care cen­ter for mi­grant work­ers af­ter he failed to con­tact her. Shi Zhi­jun, 56, who trav­eled from Urumqi in the Xin­jiang Uygur au­ton­o­mous re­gion to Guangzhou on Sept 25, said his daugh­ter’s mo­bile phone was off, so he was un­able to talk with her. He stayed at a ho­tel for four days be­fore ap­proach­ing the mi­grant worker cen­ter for help af­ter spend­ing al­most all his money, and stay­ing there for a fur­ther four days. Shi’s daugh­ter, a post­grad­u­ate, said she had asked her father not to visit, so she didn’t meet him.
