Female imposter jailed for fraud
A woman, surnamed Yang, who pretended to be the daughter of a Malaysian business tycoon, has been sentenced to 14 years in jail for defrauding a man, surnamed Li, out of more than 5 million yuan ($750,000). Yang claimed to be the niece of well-known Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh and said she worked in the German Consulate General in China. She asked Li to loan her the money in 2012 for an investment that never materialized. Yang was also fined 14,000 yuan.
