Ever­grande in talks to buy Bri­tish Cala

In its re­sults state­ment in Oc­to­ber, Cala said that it had a con­tracted land bank with gross de­vel­op­ment value of 4.7 bil­lion pounds as of end of June and that en­quiry lev­els and reser­va­tion rates had risen in the 13 weeks af­ter Bri­tain voted to leave the Euro­pean Union on June 23.

“From time to time we may find our­selves the sub­ject of spec­u­la­tion but from our per­spec­tive it is very much busi­ness as usual,” a Cala spokesper­son said.

The ap­proach comes as re­cent mort­gage data and state­ments from house­builders have in­di­cated that the UK hous­ing mar­ket is re­cov­er­ing some­what from a sharp down­turn in ac­tiv­ity that fol­lowed
