Main­land a key driver of VW sales

Ger­many’s big­gest au­to­mo­bile man­u­fac­turer, Volk­swa­gen, re­ported that the Chi­nese mar­ket re­mained the main driver of the 1 per­cent growth in its world­wide pas­sen­ger-ve­hi­cle de­liv­er­ies in the first 10 months this year. Over 2.4 mil­lion ve­hi­cles were handed over to cus­tomers in China from Jan­uary to Oc­to­ber, which rep­re­sented an in­crease of 12.3 per­cent com­pared with the same pe­riod 2015, the auto gi­ant said in its re­port. Car sales in the Chi­nese mar­ket sawan “im­pres­sive” growth of 19.1 per­cent in Oc­to­ber alone. As of Oc­to­ber this year, the mar­ket there con­trib­uted 94.3 per­cent of the en­tire Volk­swa­gen pas­sen­ger-car de­liv­er­ies in the Asia-Pa­cific re­gion, and 49.3 per­cent of the world­wide de­liv­er­ies.
