Mainland a key driver of VW sales
Germany’s biggest automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen, reported that the Chinese market remained the main driver of the 1 percent growth in its worldwide passenger-vehicle deliveries in the first 10 months this year. Over 2.4 million vehicles were handed over to customers in China from January to October, which represented an increase of 12.3 percent compared with the same period 2015, the auto giant said in its report. Car sales in the Chinese market sawan “impressive” growth of 19.1 percent in October alone. As of October this year, the market there contributed 94.3 percent of the entire Volkswagen passenger-car deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region, and 49.3 percent of the worldwide deliveries.
