Man smug­gled gold bars from HK

A man who tried to smug­gle 4 kg of gold fromHong Kong to Shen­zhen was de­tained at the city’sHuang­gang check­point on Nov 6. Cus­toms of­fi­cers grew­sus­pi­cious of the man, who ap­peared flus­tered while go­ing through the cus­toms chan­nel, so de­cided to search his back­pack. In­side, they found two gold bars plus an­other bar in each of his shoes. The gold bars are es­ti­mated to be worth about 1.1 mil­lion yuan ($162,000).
