Rules on milk powder registration

China Daily (USA) - - POLICY REVIEW -

The China Food and Drug Administration on November 17 released two guidelines on the registration of infant milk powder products, which clarify the procedures related to the work of infant milk powder registration. The new rules specify the requirements for application materials and on-the-spot examination methods and procedures. The rules also stipulate that infant milk powder products can only have one name in Chinese. Imported products can have English names, which should correspond with their Chinese names. The raw materials and food additives should meet China’s relevant food safety requirements and explanatory materials should be provided if food safety standards of other countries are used.
