Ger­man cities see debt lev­els in­crease Tourists help with Aussie tar­gets

Many Ger­man cities are ex­pe­ri­enc­ing an in­crease of debt in spite of a good eco­nomic sit­u­a­tion, a study showed on Tues­day. Ac­cord­ing to the Aus­tralian PrimeMin­is­ter Mal­colm Turn­bull said on Wed­nes­day that Chi­nese tourists were play­ing a vi­tal role in help­ing his coun­try hit its 2020 tourism tar­gets. Speak­ing at the 16th An­nual Tourism and Trans­port Fo­rum Lead­er­ship Sum­mit, Turn­bull ac­knowl­edged a bumper year for the tourism in­dus­try, com­mend­ing the sec­tor for wel­com­ing a record num­ber of tourists in 2015-16. He said that in Novem­ber the sta­tis­tics bu­reau re­leased fig­ures which showed that: “We have, for the first time, wel­comed more than 8 mil­lion in­ter­na­tional visi­tors to Aus­tralia over the last year,” he said. “That comes just 18 months af­ter we passed 7 mil­lion an­nual visi­tors.
