For­eign in­vest­ment in SEZ hits $1.7b

For­eign in­vest­ment in Myan­mar’s Thi­lawa Spe­cial Eco­nomic Zone on the out­skirts of Yangon is es­ti­mated to have hit $1.7 bil­lion so far since the zone was launched four years ago, of­fi­cial me­dia re­ported on Mon­day. For­eign in­vest­ment in the SEZ was led by man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor at $773 mil­lion, fol­lowed by the im­port-ex­port sec­tor at $126 mil­lion, the lo­gis­tics sec­tor at $77 mil­lion, the ser­vice sec­tor at $56 mil­lion, and the real es­tate sec­tor at $30 mil­lion and the ho­tel sec­tor at $12 mil­lion.
