Pomp, pageantry at Bei­jing show­piece

An In­ter­na­tional Eques­trian Fed­er­a­tion (FEI) three-star show jump­ing event will be held at Bei­jing’s Equ­uleus In­ter­na­tional Rid­ing Club be­tween Oct 20 and 22, or­ga­niz­ers an­nounced on Fri­day.

Ap­proved by the Chi­nese Eques­trian As­so­ci­a­tion, the meet will see rid­ers com­pete in six classes, with ob­sta­cles rang­ing in height from 0.5 me­ters to 1.5 me­ters over a course laid out by Ger­many’s renowned Olympic course de­signer Olaf Petersen.

Bri­tish-themed en­ter­tain­ment will also be pro­vided, in­clud­ing a magic show, a bag­pipes per­for­mance and the serv­ing of English af­ter­noon tea on the lawns at Equ­uleus, the only Chi­nese club ap­proved by the Bri­tish Horse So­ci­ety.
