Biodiesel, a combination of gutter oil and diesel, will be offered at 200 gas stations in Shanghai within the year, local authorities said. The biodiesel is 5 percent processed gutter oil and 95 percent diesel. “Such biodiesel is available in 21 pilot gas stations in the city. More than 2,000 vehicles are using the biodiesel every day,” said Xu Kunlin, vice-mayor of Shanghai. He said that there would be around 200 gas stations across the city providing biodiesel this year. A total of 30,000 metric tons of gutter oil, the annual volume of gutter oil that Shanghai produces, will be recycled as biofuel.
