Light­ing Up Mid-au­tumn Fes­ti­val

Septem­ber 18, Kun­shan City, Jiangsu Prov­ince: Um­brella-shaped lanterns are dis­played at the 2017 Cross-straits (Kun­shan) Mid-au­tumn Lan­tern Fes­ti­val in the an­cient town of Zhouzhuang to cel­e­brate Mid-au­tumn Fes­ti­val. Mid-au­tumn Fes­ti­val hap­pens on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chi­nese lu­nar cal­en­dar, and falls on Oc­to­ber 4 this year, sym­bol­iz­ing to­geth­er­ness and re­union in Chi­nese cul­ture.

The lan­tern fes­ti­val is sched­uled to last 30 days. With “Kun­shan Im­pres­sion,” “Is­land Style,” “Zhouzhuang Story” and “Bless­ing China” as the re­spec­tive themes of its four ma­jor zones, the event demon­strates Mid-au­tumn Fes­ti­val folk tra­di­tions and in­te­grates wa­ter-town el­e­ments and Mazu cul­ture while pro­mot­ing peo­ple-to-peo­ple ex­change as well as com­mon de­vel­op­ment across the Tai­wan Straits.
