Ma­cao An­niver­sary Pa­rade

De­cem­ber 17, Ma­cao: Per­form­ers in the Ma­cao In­ter­na­tional Pa­rade. The pa­rade was held by the gov­ern­ment of China’s Ma­cao Spe­cial Ad­min­is­tra­tive Re­gion (SAR) to cel­e­brate the 18th an­niver­sary of Ma­cao’s re­turn to China on De­cem­ber 20, 1999.

The pa­rade, one of Ma­cao’s ma­jor cul­tural events since 2011, started at the renowned Ru­ins of St. Paul’s and ended at Sai Van Lake Square. At­tract­ing over 60 par­tic­i­pat­ing groups from both home and abroad, the pa­rade fea­tured a se­ries of per­for­mances such as folk dances, ac­ro­bat­ics, stilt walk­ing, Chi­nese mar­tial arts and pup­pet shows.

On De­cem­ber 20, Ma­cao SAR Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Chui Sai On de­clared at a flag-rais­ing cer­e­mony that the gov­ern­ment was cau­tiously op­ti­mistic about Ma­cao’s eco­nomic out­look and high­lighted the SAR’S sta­ble econ­omy, healthy pub­lic fi­nances and low un­em­ploy­ment rate.
