July 14, Lon­don, United King­dom: Chi­nese sprinter Xie Zhenye pow­ers to vic­tory in the men’s 200-me­ter event at the in­au­gu­ral Ath­let­ics World Cup.

The 24-year-old clocked 20.25 sec­onds to win the top prize, China’s first gold at the event, beat­ing South Africa’s Lux­olo Adams (20.45 sec­onds) and Amer­i­can Ameer Webb (20.51 sec­onds), adding fuel to Chi­nese sprint­ing fever after Chi­nese star sprinter Su Bing­tian tied the Asian men’s 100-me­ter record (9.91 sec­onds) last month.
