The Action Star

China Scenic - - Lens - Photo/ Wang Huaping

Every time when Chinese opera is mentioned, Peking Opera is the first thing came to mind for most people. However, few of them are aware that its ancestor originated from the rural area of the south — the Wu Opera, which plays an important part of the rural residents’ life of Zhejiang. Performers in the photo are playing the Legend of the white Snake. To them, the applause of the audience is their biggest motivation. Such dramatic and complex movements on the stage can be found in many scenes of each piece of Wu Opera.
