Great Purple Emperor

China Scenic - - CONTENTS - By Cheng Bin

The great purple emperor is a species of Nymphalidae butterfly. In a remote town, Nanzamu, in Northeast China, thousands of such butterflies come together, cloaking the trees and hills. Once known only to naturalists and local butterfly catchers, the butterfly’s fate is now quietly changing.
