All ring-shaped cliff Danxia land­scapes share a com­mon fea­ture—there is al­ways a deep val­ley run­ning in front of the cliff. The val­ley was cre­ated by the ero­sion of run­ning wa­ter from the wa­ter­fall, high above the cliff. Thus, al­though these cliffs dif­fer in ap­pear­ance, they are con­sis­tent in ba­sic land­form struc­ture.
