Kingdom of Mushrooms

China Scenic - - TASTE -

The verdant forests of Changbai Mountains are a kingdom of numerous fungi. At the end of summer, mushrooms in various colors and shapes cover the fertile soil and the tree trunks. Anyone wandering in the forest is amazed by Mother Nature’s creativity. Generally, local people believe that mushrooms with lavishly bright colors are poisonous; however, this theory does not apply to all mushrooms. The genus Amani

ta includes some of the most toxic mushrooms, yet the Caesar’s mushroom ( Amanita caesarea ) is one of the most welcomed edible fungus here in the Changbai Mountains.
