A Tiankeng on Mountain Ridge: Mysterious Formation

China Scenic - - Special Report - Photo/ Shui Xiaojie

Quanziya Tiankeng is the largest among its counterparts in Zhenba County, Hanzhong. Its opening stretches over 520 meters and its depth reaches 320 meters. The most surprising thing about this tiankeng is that it was formed on a mountain range, rather than relatively flat land. Geologists are still studying how such an unusual phenomenon occurred.
