More Tiankeng on the Ridge

China Scenic - - Special Report - Photo/ Shui Xiaojie

On a mountain in Zhenba, we discovered another tiankeng that was not listed in the Hanzhong Tiankeng cluster. The width of its opening is over 100 meters and its depth is over 200 meters. Like Quanziya Tiankeng, this tiankeng is also located on a mountain ridge that formed by a collision between two plates. But how could a tiankeng develop under such circumstances and how did it preserve its original shape, rather than break up due to strong uplift? Many questions are waiting to be answered.
