Writer Gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity

Writer, Zhou Meisen, spe­cial­izes in po­lit­i­cal nov­els, and has gained widespread which has been adapted into a TV se­ries which be­gan air­ing on March 28 on Hu­nan TV.

The drama is built around a com­plex cor­rup­tion case brought to light by con­flicts at a fac­tory in a fic­tional prov­ince. In or­der to write the novel, Zhou vis­ited a prison to in­ter­view in­mates and also talked to po­lice of­fi­cers and pros­e­cu­tors who dealt with cor­rup­tion cases.

The 61-year-old Zhou gained ini­tial fame with his 1983 novella The Sink­ing Land, and is now a mem­ber of the pre­sid­ium of the China Writ­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion and deputy chief of the Jiangsu Provin­cial Writ­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion.
