China has not set a GDP growth target for this year and will take a slew of forceful financial measures this year to shore up the economy, which has been dragged down by the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the government work report delivered by Premier Li Keqiang. But it does not mean that economic development is not important.
The government hopes that the economic growth could deliver more real gains to the people and promote higher quality development in China. Putting protection measures in place in six key areas, especially in the areas of jobs, livelihoods and businesses, will help the country achieve positive and solid growth this year to the extent possible.
