Tens years af­ter first be­ing en­tranced by the Av­enue of the Baob­abs on BBC’s

Planet Earth se­ries, Du­tile, a pho­tog­ra­pher based in New York City, fi­nally had the op­por­tu­nity to visit western Mada­gas­car and see the nat­u­ral won­der for him­self. “I had this fixed men­tal pic­ture of what it would be like,” he says. “As it turns out, be­ing there in per­son was far more amaz­ing than any­thing I could have imag­ined. And that’s the feel­ing I took with me vir­tu­ally ev­ery­where I set foot in Mada­gas­car. It’s a world apart. I’ve tried my best to describe my time there, but it re­ally is one of those places that you need to ex­pe­ri­ence for your­self.” A fre­quent con­trib­u­tor to Des­ti­nAsian, Du­tile has con­tributed as a pho­tog­ra­pher to a host of travel pub­li­ca­tions in­clud­ing End­less Va­ca­tion, Delta Sky, and Hawaii Magazine.
