Wrote and photographed “Madagascar on the Mind,”
Tens years after first being entranced by the Avenue of the Baobabs on BBC’s
Planet Earth series, Dutile, a photographer based in New York City, finally had the opportunity to visit western Madagascar and see the natural wonder for himself. “I had this fixed mental picture of what it would be like,” he says. “As it turns out, being there in person was far more amazing than anything I could have imagined. And that’s the feeling I took with me virtually everywhere I set foot in Madagascar. It’s a world apart. I’ve tried my best to describe my time there, but it really is one of those places that you need to experience for yourself.” A frequent contributor to DestinAsian, Dutile has contributed as a photographer to a host of travel publications including Endless Vacation, Delta Sky, and Hawaii Magazine.
