SKY’S THE LIMIT

No airport in Asia is quite like Singapore’s Changi Airport, where longer layovers are a source of joy.

Waiting for a flight has never been more fun. No matter which terminal you pick at Singapore Changi Airport, you’re bound to find attractions that suit all ages. Here are just a few highlights.

SWIMMING POOL

In Terminal 1’s departure transit lounge, a rooftop swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and fitness center make for an unusual aerie to watch planes taking off and landing on the runway. While admission is priced SG$17 per person, guests of Aerotel Airport Transit Hotel can visit free of charge.

A MILLION TIMES

One of the largest kinetic artworks in the world, A Million

Times, takes pride of place at the Departure Hall inside Terminal 2. Created by the Stockholm- based artist collective Humans Since 1982, the sculpture measures seven and a half meters wide and 3.4 meters high.

SUNFLOWER GARDEN

Terminal 2 is also home to the Sunflower Garden, with 500 specimens representing several varieties of the flower that were grown at the airport’s in-house nursery. By night, special lighting effects add a magical glow to this rooftop vantage point at the transit lounge.

24- HOUR CINEMAS

Not far from the Sunflower Garden, passengers can catch some of the latest blockbusters for free at a 24-hour movie theater. This entertainment option is also available for travelers at Terminal 3’s transit area.

BUTTERFLY GARDEN

The transit area of Terminal 3 features the world’s first butterfly garden in an airport. A six- meter- high waterfall set into a grotto provides a calming addition to the twostory enclosed garden, which shelters more than 1,000 butterflies from as many as 40 species.

HERITAGE ZONE

Over in Terminal 4, which opened just last year, the Heritage Zone in the Departure Transit Lounge showcases Singapore’s traditional retail and dining venues alongside the evolution of the city- state’s distinctive shophouse facades. A giant LED screen here plays a six- minute cultural show titled “Peranakan Love Story.”
