Colombia: More Chinese investment welcomed

Global Times – Metro Beijing - - EMBASSY -

Columbia will further open its doors to Chinese investors and entrepreneurs with a series of preferential policies. The strong signal was delivered at a business promotion event held by the Columbian Embassy in Beijing on March 10.

Columbia is a very stable and vital economy and the industry diversity in the country is growing fast, said Alejandro Roa Valencia, the commercial counsellor of the Colombian Embassy.

He stressed that apart from the traditional oil and mining industries, Columbia offers a huge space for investment and such as infrastructure development, tourism and retail. A series of tax cuts for foreign businesses and simpler regulations in free trade zones were also stressed at the event.

“Apart from other industries, agriculture and eco-energy are the two sectors in which we are especially looking forward to strengthening our cooperation with Chinese companies,” said Oscar Rueda, the Colombian Ambassador to China.
