Nepal: Deputy PM’s visit fos­ters deeper ties

Sev­eral agree­ments were signed be­tween China and Nepal dur­ing Nepal’s Deputy Prime Min­is­ter and Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs Kr­ishna Ba­hadur Ma­hara’s of­fi­cial visit to the coun­try on Septem­ber 6, ac­cord­ing to the Nepalese Em­bassy in Bei­jing. The deputy prime min­is­ter’s six-day visit was at the in­vi­ta­tion of the Chi­nese For­eign Min­is­ter Wang Yi. He also met with Premier Li Ke­qiang and State Coun­cilor Yang Jiechi. The Min­istry of En­ergy of Nepal and the Na­tional En­ergy Ad­min­is­tra­tion of China ini­ti­ated a mem­o­ran­dum of un­der­stand­ing (MOU) on en­ergy co­op­er­a­tion while the Nepalese Em­bassy in Bei­jing and Zhongjin­grun Tourism In­vest­ment Com­pany signed an MOU to pro­mote Nepal as a tourist des­ti­na­tion in China.
