Wanda and Under Armour forge strategic cooperation
Wanda Sport recently announced a strategic cooperation with US sports brand Under Armour (UA) for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in China. The first race under the new partnership will be held on October 28 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province then on December 31 in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series attracts more than 600,000 runners each year and has made a name for itself as a street party-style marathon with live music shows, cheerleading and themed water stations.
Competitor Group Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of Wanda Sports, owns and operates the popular series, which it purchased in 2017. Wanda Sport’s CEO Yang Dongwei welcomed the cooperation, which is aimed at promoting running among more young fashionable people.
“The cooperation between Wanda Sport and Under Armour will be greatly helpful for the promotion of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in China,” said Yang.
He said he expects more similar partnerships to be reached in 2018.
