HPV Ac­tion and Aware­ness Event

The Du­creay Foun­da­tion, in as­so­ci­a­tion with OA­SIS In­ter­na­tional Hos­pi­tal and The Book­worm, is host­ing We Mat­ter, an ac­tion and aware­ness event about the hu­man pa­pil­lo­mavirus (HPV). HPV is the name of a group of viruses that af­fect your skin and the moist mem­brane lin­ing your body, in­clud­ing your cervix, anus, mouth and throat. There are more than 100 types of HPV and around 30 types of HPV in­fec­tions that can af­fect the gen­i­tal area. Gen­i­tal HPV in­fec­tions are com­mon and highly con­ta­gious, and some strains can lead to cer­vi­cal can­cer or pre­can­cer­ous cer­vi­cal le­sions. OA­SIS physi­cians, doc­tors Emily Kara and Vasili Ber­doukas will share some com­mon mis­con­cep­tions about HPV and give crit­i­cal ad­vice on how to cope with it.
