YUN Sum­mer Lounge in Wang­fu­jing of­fers the sea­son’s best

Balmy sum­mer evenings are back, and YUN Sum­mer Lounge at The Penin­sula Bei­jing is throw­ing open its doors for guests to en­joy glam­orous sun­downer drinks and post-din­ner par­ties.

Lo­cated on the 15th floor, YUN Sum­mer Lounge serves up stun­ning city views com­bined with ex­quis­ite fur­nish­ings. Sul­try Mediter­ranean shar­ing plates by ex­ec­u­tive chef Richard Glaze per­fectly match the menu of clas­sic and mod­ern cock­tails mixed by ex­pert bar­tenders, red and white wines and pre­mium Cham­pagnes.

Dur­ing the week, YUN Sum­mer Lounge is a rooftop bar with an ori­en­tal­in­spired lounge for sky-high so­cial­iz­ing and ro­man­tic sun­set re­unions. As the week­end ap­proaches, YUN Sum­mer Lounge tran­si­tions into a party hot spot with in­ter­ac­tive pro­mo­tions and in­ter­na­tional DJs spin­ning live sets from 7 pm to 10 pm on Thurs­days, Fri­days and Satur­days.

Ev­ery Thurs­day, PINK in The City pro­mo­tion of­fers a glass of pink bubbly to all ladies and gen­tle­men who wear a touch of pink. Fri­days are Shar­ing Nights, which fea­ture 20 per­cent dis­counts on a se­lec­tion of shar­ing cock­tails and meals. Mean­while, Satur- day’s Be­fore Sun­set pro­mo­tion of­fers two-for-one cock­tails as twi­light draws near. Ev­ery week­day be­fore sun­set, Sun­deck Hours of­fers buytwo-get-one-free sig­na­ture cock­tails. The mixol­ogy team at YUN Sum­mer Lounge in­fuses Eastern in­gre­di­ents and fla­vors to hand­craft à la minute sum­mer cock­tails, such as Asian Cup, a zesty fu­sion of Sip­smith Lon­don Dry Gin, Aperol, lime juice and East Im­pe­rial Gin­ger Ale, and Ori­en­tal Snow, a de­lec­ta­ble blend of sparkling wine, Belvedere vodka, ly­chee liqueur and fresh ly­chee juice.

Guests can also tai­lor their own drinks with a pre­ferred fruit fla­vor. A so­phis­ti­cated daiquiri can be cus­tom mixed with lime, wa­ter­melon or peach. A clas­sic mar­tini is served in ly­chee, ap­ple or mango vari­a­tions. Sum­mer is for shar­ing, and be­spoke Asian Cup and Cosmo Ice cock­tail jugs are pre­pared to or­der for groups of four to six peo­ple.

Sump­tu­ously crafted shar­ing plates with Mediter­ranean and South Amer­i­can inspirations by ex­ec­u­tive chef Richard Glaze are de­signed for snack­ing high above Bei­jing with a loved one or group of friends.

This sea­son’s most so­phis­ti­cated light bites in­clude wagyu slid­ers with wild mush­room, ched­dar and ba­con, and Bur­rata with to­mato, grilled fo­cac­cia and leaves. For a lit­tle ex­tra spice and crunch, per­fectly fried chicken wings are paired with crispy chili, cel­ery and peanuts.

YUN Sum­mer Lounge is equipped with el­e­gant fur­ni­ture, a fu­sion of Chi­nese chic and contemporary min­i­mal­ism in keep­ing with The Penin­sula Bei­jing’s ar­chi­tec­tural phi­los­o­phy. Its guests en­joy a prime lo­ca­tion for ad­mir­ing the tra­di­tional pagoda roof de­sign of the orig­i­nal build­ing, which was con­structed in 1987 and adorned with hand-carved sculp­tures of the five an­i­mals that his­tor­i­cally sym­bol­ize the Chi­nese aris­toc­racy.
