YUN Summer Lounge in Wangfujing offers the season’s best
Balmy summer evenings are back, and YUN Summer Lounge at The Peninsula Beijing is throwing open its doors for guests to enjoy glamorous sundowner drinks and post-dinner parties.
Located on the 15th floor, YUN Summer Lounge serves up stunning city views combined with exquisite furnishings. Sultry Mediterranean sharing plates by executive chef Richard Glaze perfectly match the menu of classic and modern cocktails mixed by expert bartenders, red and white wines and premium Champagnes.
During the week, YUN Summer Lounge is a rooftop bar with an orientalinspired lounge for sky-high socializing and romantic sunset reunions. As the weekend approaches, YUN Summer Lounge transitions into a party hot spot with interactive promotions and international DJs spinning live sets from 7 pm to 10 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Every Thursday, PINK in The City promotion offers a glass of pink bubbly to all ladies and gentlemen who wear a touch of pink. Fridays are Sharing Nights, which feature 20 percent discounts on a selection of sharing cocktails and meals. Meanwhile, Satur- day’s Before Sunset promotion offers two-for-one cocktails as twilight draws near. Every weekday before sunset, Sundeck Hours offers buytwo-get-one-free signature cocktails. The mixology team at YUN Summer Lounge infuses Eastern ingredients and flavors to handcraft à la minute summer cocktails, such as Asian Cup, a zesty fusion of Sipsmith London Dry Gin, Aperol, lime juice and East Imperial Ginger Ale, and Oriental Snow, a delectable blend of sparkling wine, Belvedere vodka, lychee liqueur and fresh lychee juice.
Guests can also tailor their own drinks with a preferred fruit flavor. A sophisticated daiquiri can be custom mixed with lime, watermelon or peach. A classic martini is served in lychee, apple or mango variations. Summer is for sharing, and bespoke Asian Cup and Cosmo Ice cocktail jugs are prepared to order for groups of four to six people.
Sumptuously crafted sharing plates with Mediterranean and South American inspirations by executive chef Richard Glaze are designed for snacking high above Beijing with a loved one or group of friends.
This season’s most sophisticated light bites include wagyu sliders with wild mushroom, cheddar and bacon, and Burrata with tomato, grilled focaccia and leaves. For a little extra spice and crunch, perfectly fried chicken wings are paired with crispy chili, celery and peanuts.
YUN Summer Lounge is equipped with elegant furniture, a fusion of Chinese chic and contemporary minimalism in keeping with The Peninsula Beijing’s architectural philosophy. Its guests enjoy a prime location for admiring the traditional pagoda roof design of the original building, which was constructed in 1987 and adorned with hand-carved sculptures of the five animals that historically symbolize the Chinese aristocracy.
