10.35 mil­lion – the av­er­age daily pas­sen­ger flow vol­ume in Bei­jing metro sys­tem, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est sta­tis­tics re­leased by the Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mis­sion of Trans­port. In May, the Bei­jing Metro in­tro­duced a new func­tion into its app that al­lows pas­sen­gers to check the de­gree of con­ges­tion in the sub­way.

9,000,000 – the num­ber of added heat­ing ar­eas in squre me­ters gen­er­ated by clean en­ergy in Bei­jing. Re­cently, six large-scale coal burn­ing boil­ers were con­verted into clean en­ergy gen­er­a­tors in sub­ur­ban ar­eas like Yan­qing, Pinggu and Miyun dis­tricts, which can greatly re­duce the emis­sions.

4,741 – the num­ber of com­pa­nies and in­sti­tu­tions in Bei­jing that ap­plied to par­tic­i­pate in the China In­ter­na­tional Im­port Expo (CIIE). Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease by the Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal Gov­ern­ment and Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mis­sion of Com­merce, there are 4,150 com­pa­nies and 191 so­cial or­ga­ni­za­tions signed up for CIIE.

50,000 – the amount of money in yuan ($7,181) re­warded to a pair of cit­i­zens af­ter they made re­ports of se­vere en­vi­ron­men­tal dis­rup­tion by two com­pa­nies that were il­le­gally dis­charg­ing waste wa­ter. Ac­cord­ing to Bei­jing Mu­nic­i­pal En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion Bureau, it re­ceived 1,600 such re­ports this year and paid out 258,000 yuan in re­ward money.
